Crypto Crime Investigation Workshop at SHIELD Conference

Souvik Haldar conducting a crypto crime investigation workshop at SHIELD Conference

I conducted a workshop at the SHIELD Conference in Hyderabad for officials from law-enforcement agencies and intelligence departments across India.

The session focused on a practical SOP for cryptocurrency-related crime investigation:

  1. Gather case information: wallet addresses, transaction IDs, time ranges, and known entities.
  2. Establish a money trail by tracing on-chain movement across wallets and transactions.
  3. Identify exchange or KYC-enabled endpoints where legal requests can produce identity information.
  4. Use reports to support prosecution, fund recovery, account freezing, or criminal-network mapping.

The session used live case studies solved through Hornet and focused on making blockchain investigation workflows understandable and usable for officers handling crypto fraud, laundering, and cybercrime cases.
